Progress HARPG: Level Up with Your Horse

Most online Horse RPGs (HARPGs) are art-based, but this one is a self-directed, growth-focused game. Progress HARPG is designed to help you stay motivated and track your improvement in any skill or activity by leveling up your horse alongside your personal progress.

How It Works
You set your own leveling system based on your goals. If you have high ambitions for improvement, set your goals high too! Here’s a flexible guide to get started:

Levelling Guide
0 – Novice (absolute beginner)
10 – Beginner
25 – Competent
40 – Intermediate
60 – Advanced
80 – Professional
100 – World Champion (best of the best)

Setting Your Own Rules
The beauty of this game is its flexibility. You’re not competing against others—only yourself. Your leveling system is personal, and you can adjust it anytime based on what feels right for you.

- Set Level 100 as your ultimate goal and start from Level 0 (or another level if that suits your experience better).
- Gain XP for progress, even in small steps.
- Your XP system can be as structured or freeform as you like.
- The difficulty of leveling up can increase as you advance, mimicking real skill development.

Tracking Progress
Track your progress in any way that feels comfortable. If you don’t feel like you’ve earned a full level-up, award yourself XP instead! The XP you gain per milestone can vary—what matters is that it feels meaningful to you.

Example Progress Games

Example 1: P-ond's Art Progress
Because I’ve been practicing art for a long time, I might start my Art Progress Horse at Level 25 (Competent). However, I could also choose to start at Level 0 and set a new goal.

I earn XP by engaging in activities that improve my art, such as:
- Creating new pieces
- Researching techniques
- Attending classes or workshops
- Studying adjacent skills (e.g., visual perception)

I decide how much XP to award based on factors like the effort I put in, how much I learned from ana activity, and how proud I am of the work I made. Once I reach a major milestone, I level up!

Example 2: Novice Athletics Progress
This Athletics Progress Horse starts at Level 0— the player has never done any sport before. Their dream is to run an ultra-marathon, but for now, their realistic goal is a sub-20-minute 5K, which we've set at Level 100.

To keep motivated, this game follows a video game-inspired leveling structure, where progress is fast at first and slows down as the player advances. Here’s how the milestones look:

- Level 0 – Never run before
- Level 5 – Run for 1 minute without stopping
- Level 10 – Run for 5 minutes without stopping
- Level 20 – Run a full mile
- Level 30 – Run a 5K at any pace
- Level 40 – Run a 5K in under 35 minutes
- Level 50 – Run a 5K in under 30 minutes
- Level 60 – Run a 10K
- Level 70 – Run a 5K in under 25 minutes
- Level 80 – Run a 10K in under an hour
- Level 90 – Run a 5K in under 22 minutes
- Level 100 – Achieve a 5K time of 20 minutes or less

If I find that I need more stepping stones, I can add extra levels. If I’m close to my goal, I can push through as is. The game is entirely adaptable to my needs!

Additional Game Features
Make It Your Own
This game can be applied to any skill—art, writing, fitness, music, language learning, anything! You can create a new **HARPG horse** for each skill or track multiple skills with the same horse.

Gift XP to Others
If you see someone making great progress or undervaluing themselves, you can gift them a medal, rosette, or prize as encouragement!

Leveling Up
Level up your horse when you hit an important milestone—this could be a specific XP amount, a major achievement, or a personal breakthrough. The only person holding you accountable is *you*.

---

Getting Started
1. Pick a skill or goal you want to improve.
2. Choose your horse and set its starting level.
3. Define your leveling system (structured or flexible).
4. Award XP and level up based on meaningful progress.
5. Adapt the game as needed to support your journey.

Progress HARPG combines personal growth with the fun of an RPG. Set your goals, level up your horse, and enjoy the ride!
