Work gave me a call last week, asking about being mobilized to North Carolina; for hurricane relief at the stores + assisting clean up at a specific town. Travel, hotel, food covered and I get paid for it. So I'm preparing to head out on a two-week-long journey to help. Nov. 1st - 15th; I'll be mostly inactive. Since the place I'm going got hit bad from Helene, I'm unsure if we'll have stable interne

On November 1st, I will be hitting the road at 8AM sharp to NC. There's a LOT of prep and packing I have to do, but I'll keep you all updated. Thankfully I have my own room at the hotel, so YAY privacy! But BOOOO waking up early lmao

Been having a bit of last-minute jitters, but I know it'll be worth it. But dear lordy, I have no idea where to start when it comes to packing.

you start by gathering only all of your essentials, everything you will absolutely NEED on this trip, things you can't be without, thatwould be;
your phone - for emergency calls and staying in touch with your boss and team
charger to keep your phone active and on for the above reason
hygiene prodcuts like toothbrush, comb, whatever else
spare clothes to switch out for clothes you don't mind or care about getting dirty or just y'know everyday

I hope so too! I've been keeping an eye on social media, and following people who live in the town I'm going to. Seems like cleanup is already underway

Absolutely! That's what I did. I bought those vacuum storage bags so i can stuff my luggage with them. And lots of socks! Also bought power banks too. Thank you!

First day! Since this is for my work, the place I'm working in is the only major store open in this small town; since the local Walmart is closed till feb 2025. They got hit with 4ft+ of water.

So I'll be stocking daily needs on the shelves today most likely, that way people can get their needs to live and rebuild.

The town looks pretty darn clean, but some areas got hit more than others.

Side note: I got up at 5:30AM all by myself! I'm not morning person so I feel proud.
