Creatures that solely manifest at night and die when dawn breaks regardless of sunlight they will always die unless a greater nightmare has made a totem within there regen,
The spawn manifests around areas that have had past terrible events feeding off of the lost memories and fear, though it doesn't seem to matter how long ago the events happened.
The creatures normally start out as a blotch of darkness they slowly will accumulated branches and dead things to themselves crafting organs from dead animals or people, though there seems no real reason to why they make organs for themselves considering they are made of and ethereal null, but destroying the organs can be enough to kill them by conventional means, though using silver tends to work best against the null like membrane which will easily burns away
