the crystals drawn are just examples of how the crystal structures can appear. The most common the crystals show in masks would be very basic teardrop shapes under the eyes;

the crystals would grow larger the older they are, their crystals match the color of their tears! newborns wouldn't have any crystals, or a fully formed "mask"
that would grow later on (yes, the mask is a part of their body; think of it as a sort of Exoskeleton)

i think i should point out though these are a little similar to axioms which started recently, but i think you could definitely add your own twist on these concepts! :}

I have seen Axioms; I don't believe by any means the two are too similar, mostly because these fellas only visually seem very vaguely like a doll or toy (and they don't have actual masks; as mentioned, while referred to as a mask, they're more akin to an exoskeleton, and cannot be removed)
but again, the main/traitless concept for them is still on the works, so it might change quite a bit. I have a story in mind for them already which connects to Sourbon Raptor Lore (They're creatures from the same planet)

It's possible I actually take more of the Sourbon's traits to introduce into them instead perhaps. Make them a second type of jelly critter.

the joint lines might actually not be in the final design, this will be one final peek at the current work in progress on this
