The only recessives which can make a normal merle are Mᶜ and m. Similarly the only merle dog that is safe to breed with other merle dogs is Mᶜm or MᶜMᶜ.

Mm = Standard
Mᵃ+m = Atypical Plus
Mᵃm = Atypical
Mᶜ+m = Cryptic Plus (May show little to no merle)
Mᶜm = Cryptic (May show little to no merle)
mm = Non Merle
