Wings of fire was created and is owned by Tui T. Sutherland. These are just my re-imaginings of the different dragons and their societies.

Nightwings are an average sized species of dragon in pyrriah, sporting large ears and wings. They are largely nocturnal and mostly rely on their sense of hearing to get around. They are extremely accurate flyers, being able to make sharp twists and turns in the air. While they cannot out-speed a Skywing, they can out maneuver them any day.
Their most unique feature are their dexterous paws, which has lead them to be the leading tribe writing-wise, with the majority of Nightwings taking up the role of scribe. They are also the only tribe to bind books instead of using scrolls, finding it easier to flip the pages of a book than other dragons.
Nightwings are most commonly found sporting dark scales, ranging from purples, greens, and blues, although most commonly their scales are simply a dark black. Sometimes Nightwings can be found in lighter colors such as browns and grays. Every Nightwing typically has freckling of white and silver scales on their body. Their eyes are always black, with pupils. While looking straight ahead their eyes appear to be pitch black, but peering to the side reveals a sliver of their white sclera.
Nightwings are known for their knowledge and studious nature, valuing literature and history. Only the most studious dragonets can achieve the goal of attending a Nightwing college. Nightwings are a very reserved tribe, preferring to remain mysterious to the other dragons of pyrriah. While old tales claim that Nightwings have supernatural abilities, this is simply old war propaganda spread during the Icewing Nightwing war. Some younger Nightwings are even embarrassed by this fact, and are working on spreading the truth.
Nightwings are quite versed within the arts as well, specializing in theater and painting. It's a common activity for young dragonets to join the acting club at school, begging their parents to come and see the tenth rendition of the Icewing Nightwing war played on stage they all worked so hard on. While it isn't common, some Nightwings find their passion in the arts, and will put on professional acts or organize an art gallery.
Nightwings elect an official to rule over the tribe every ten years, holding democratic votes to see which Nightwing is the most worthy to lead. Each Nightwing may only rule once. Every leader paints their own self portrait, reflecting their true self. They are all hung in a great hall, preserving the memory of all whole once ruled.
Nightwings have a very sarcastic and ironic sense of humor. They are not as much logic driven as they are literature driven. They strive to preserve history and retell it through book and story. Some of the most famous authors in pyrriah are Nightwings as they have a natural knack for storytelling. They are polar opposites of the Skywing tribe, and if it weren't for their long lasting feud, Nightwings and Icewings would be close allies.
