Does anyone know what this is:
"[url]link[/url]" or "[url=link][img]Picture[/img][/url]"
What is this called?
Is it a type of coding?
Is it CS specific?
I googled it and google had no idea what I was talking about.

That's called BBCode, and it's been really popular on forums/bulletin boards since probably the early 2000s or so. CS forums are based on a framework called PHPBB which uses it heavily.
