back on my wwi stuff because i'm okay now i think. its been a while for a number of reasons. but I'm glad i get to hopefully make more history/wwi art like the older days :D
doughnut girls were basically just some lovely ladies sent to france by the salvation army to cheer up the doughboys at the front lines with some nice baked treats- doughnuts! the treats were the comfort food of the soldiers because the smell reminded them of home. they were also pretty easy to make, even with the limited amount of ingredients. at the beginning when the girls first arrived only a little over a hundred doughnuts were served, but eventually thousands were being served a day! even when they baked other treats, they were known to the soldiers as the doughnut girls, and they became super popular- soldiers lined up as they smelled doughnuts being fried!
nothing fancy or particularly good, i just wanted to draw wwi stuff again really quickly :)
