Make new Follower notifications invisible (and optional)

This will probably be an unpopular opinion, but you're welcome to voice your opinions too. criticism is what makes the site better after all mind you, I was feeling quite frustrated while writing this, so this will probably be all over the place lol

I know that actual follower counts are hidden, but it's the notification i want to be hidden as well.

My suggestion is that there should be a option to disable new follower notifications from view. A particular reason for this is that a few people, including myself, don't really like to be compared through popularity and just want to draw for fun. In some cases, it can be quite draining emotionally.
