optional lore:
small, domesticated fox-like creatures descended from a larger species of alien canines. breeding-related mutations over centuries have caused their bodies to overproduce minerals, which collect on their fur in deposits and are often trimmed or faceted to prevent discomfort to the animal. they are coveted as pets because they are rumored to have psychic abilities. they have sensitive bulbs on their antennae and tail-tips that pick up frequencies of a kind of energy that we cannot perceive, and they use it to communicate.
