[Grumpy old Beast]

My beloved Jasper was 11 when I picked him up. Until then he had lived with an old lady who had to go to the nursing home. He was a backyard cat in a small town who kept the property free of mice and rats. You could tell at first sight that he was a fighter. He was tall, skinny, with huge fangs and a slit in his ear. I have lovingly called him my pirate cat. He should be brought to the shelter, nobody wanted such an old cat. I fell in love with him at first sight. My first trip with him was to the vet. All but two of his teeth had to be pulled. And he was seriously ill with kidneys. The vet said he wouldn't live long.
I didn't care, I wanted to give him the best possible time. Jasper became a happy village cat with me, who could sit for hours on the edge of the field and watch the world around him. The shadow of death never left him, but even if the rainbow bridge was already in sight, he spent another two wonderful years with me. I will never forget him and I miss him every day!
