The doctors of medieval Europe would stuff the noses of a beaked mask with herbs in an attempt to protect themselves from the plague. It's somewhat topical right now, during the Coronavirus pandemic, but I actually made this dress up several years ago to celebrate my trip to beautiful Venice.
