Hal's grip on their hoodie sleeves tightened, and they cast their head down. No, there was no need to do any further socializing. Their eye dimmed, and they hid their face in their fringe.
"Halberry!"
Hal's head shot up and they looked back, a frown appearing on their face, but they made no move to stop, or to correct whoever was coming up behind them.
After a few moments, a taller canine appeared at their side, visibly out of breath before they straightened. Hal's eye widened, recognizing the other boy from his recent scheme, he ducked his head and continued on.
"No wait up!"
He knew, Hal's pace quickened. This dog knew.
They weren't sure how they didn't fall victim to their sleeping magic, but somehow they didn't and that means they knew. Now they would threaten to tell everyone, and Hal was going to be detained, or worse, expelled, killed.
"Okay, but--"
Hal's shook their head.
"Just hear me out!"
"What's to hear?" Hal tried to keep their voice steady, but it shook with their obvious panic. '"You know.."
They glanced back at the other boy, trying to understand why his eyes had a red glow. Hal's eyes widened further, and they took a step back.
The brown canine smiled sheepishly, brows raising.
"You're like me?" They said in unison.
