Cat Name: Blossomlight
Gender: She-cat
Prompt: I hobbled out of the den, taken aback at the hoard of wide-eyed fluffy kittens at the entrance. They looked as though they wanted to play...Or perhaps they were waiting for their kill.
"Uhh, hello there...Kits...?" I murmured cautiously. I would rather not have my dignity ruined by some hungry children toppling me.
They looked up, one eye, two eyes, red eyes, blue eyes. Though none of them had red eyes, they all seemed to seek the same thing.
"Bwossomwight, we want a storwy," whimpered a thin grey kitten, its fur ruffled this way and that. They all started mewing pitifully, nearly snapping my heart. I heaved a sigh.
"Fine, but not a long one. And it won't be too scary." They all cheered, as I led them out of the camp and to a sludgy hollow.
(Cue dramatic music)
"It was an ordinary day, like any other. I was stalking prey in the forest at midnight, tasting the sweet scents of the NewLeaf night. Suddenly, a shriek of some huge beast erupted from the brush!"
One of the kittens, a brown tabby, gasped so hard they fell onto their small back, smacking another with their tail and crushing their sibling. Several mews and murmurs of protest arose. I continued, giving the child a good glare.
"I was in this very hollow when I saw it. The bright red pelt rippling with muscles and pure, raw, cat spine-breaking strength. I, being the brave and courageous soul I am, crouched and prepared to take it down to save my Clan. It caught my scent and turned its mighty head towards me."
The kittens were huddled together now. The few on the outskirts of the circle pushing ever inward to escape the cold of the story. Some glanced behind them, others were shivering through their thin pelts and large imaginations. I silently chuckled to myself.
"It gave such a deep and fearsome growl that would make any logical cat flee far far away. But I, I am no logical cat! I yearn for adventure! To see the unimaginable. As it continued to growl, low and gruff, I tensed. It pounced on me!"
The kitten in the middle of the circle leaped up in fright, landing on another's head.
"We tussled, we lunged, we fought ferociously! I dodged, swung my paws at its face, and flew back in an instant. I was much too fast for the lumbering beast. Finally, after long moments of battling, I decided to end the quarrel. I slashed at the beast's throat, watching as the blood poured out! It bathed the ground with a vibrant scarlet, never to growl again."
The kittens looked up at me with such admiration I doubted they'd sleep tonight.
"What happened next?" asked a pale orange she-cat, her tail puffed up from the horrors and excitements.
"Ah, well, I returned to camp a hero, my dear kit!" I got on my haunches and posed for the crowd.
That's when it all went wrong.
Seastar came out of the brush, snickering and shaking her soft blue-grey head.
"My, my Blossomlight, you tell such tall tales," she slithered along the ground in her slinking stride. "Do you kittens wish to know the real story?"
The circle of bewildered kits betrayed their newfound hero, which was quite disgusting in my opinion.
"Blossomlight here was attacked by a desperate squirrel! It leaped straight onto her muzzle. Scared her half to death." I glared at the cat and realized the kits thought it was hilarious. I relaxed and giggled a little bit too.
