There was an attempt to make the bg look vaguely like a grainy photograph, but ofc I gave up and made it just plain grainy.

This is my oc, Luitpold. He is a German wwi soldier and he never takes off his mask unless he feels like it or he is told to do so by authority figures, reasons being he does not want his face to be associated with any embarrassing mistakes or actions he may do by accident. And you can never be too careful during battle.
