Somewhere in another dimension, fire thrived. A forest where everything was ablaze lived on for as long as anyone could know, everything there seemed to be immune to fire - including its inhabitants.
Chenim was the name of a very special inhabitant there, in fact, it’s only known inhabitant. Chenims thrived even more so than the fire that had lived there for many millennia, this was because Chenims were immune to practically everything, they were immortal.
Water could be rare to find, but when you found it it was a beautiful oasis, streams webbed together, intricate patterns in the water would swirl around where waterfalls would break the crisp silence. Ablaze forestation lines the edges of these oases’, keeping them nearly hidden if it wasn’t for the waterfalls.
The Chenims need water to live, but not as much as you or I might evolution had adapted them to not be as reliant on water. As well as the fact they only needed to locate one of these oasis’ every 2 to 3 weeks thanks to their tails, their tails had developed an inside pouch that could hold enough water to sustain them for at most a month; they knew when they needed to find an oasis based on the weight of their tail.
