[Ɽotten Ⱡegacy]

Ouch.

I don't know if I said 'ouch' to her scars, or to how much my hand aches from not moving it for an hour or so.

Anyway, her name is Mage. She's a character--and a big antagonist, no surprise--in a world I made.
It's very unfinished and it has a lot of cliches and plot holes, but I'm still proud of it, at least for now.
I made a whole post about that world--you can find it here.

However, in that post, I don't think I mention her much, if at all.
Basically? She's Nightmare's mother. And she's the reason Nightmare is so messed up.
Here's the shortest version of her story that I can come up with:
Nightmare's parents were Mage and Spectre. She also had a brother named Tempest, but Mage killed him because he was weak. As you can already tell, Mage is...not exactly..all there. She was terrible to Nightmare and Spectre. One night, Spectre tried to escape with Nightmare, but Mage found out and killed him, then took Nightmare back to their home. Nightmare was forced to live with Mage until a wolf invaded their home and attacked them. When it had Mage pinned down, Nightmare saw an opportunity to escape, and took it, leaving her mother to die. She ran until she left the forest they lived in, entering a desert. She lived in the desert for a while before stumbling upon three cats who were half-dead from the harsh environment. She took them back to her den and gave them water and shelter. Eventually, Nightmare and these three cats founded the Dark Alliance.

Mage actually lived, though, as you might be able to tell by her scars. She was able to run away from the wolf, although not without some serious injuries--such as a missing eye, a long scar down her left side, and a cut in each of her ears.
