The Bringer of Light stood, waiting underneath the dimly lit light of the crossroads. They felt unsettled being here but knew that they were here for a reason. An important one. Today, they'd get their first companion. Their first Hellund. They knew that it would be a big day for them and made sure to double check that they brought all the ingredients to perform their summoning ritual. Salt? Check. Herbs? Check. Candles and matches? Check.
Light Bringer sat themselves down on the ground and placed a small bowl in front of themselves before beginning the ceremony. A pentacle was carefully drawn on the ground using the salt and, in the center, was the small bowl. They placed the candles on each point of the pentacle before beginning to fill the bowl with the herbs. In went thyme, sage and rosemary before they got crushed up and mixed together.
When everything was ready, Light Bringer looked around. Making sure that they were actually ready for what was going to happen. They were. They struck the match on the side of the box before carefully lighting each of the candles and finally tossing the match in the bowl, watching as the contents went up in flames before beginning to chant.
"Dolores inferni circumdederunt. Et flamma per sanguinem. Veni ad me. Ne nos fora ad vinculum inter hominem et inter bestiam. Noli timere. Audi nos." Their voice was soft but unwavering as they called into the darkness.
At first nothing happened, until the soft pitter patter of a Hellund could be heard on the gravel. Light stood up and turned to face the source of the noise and there stood a large red and black Hellund. Light walked closer and held out a red bean mochi. They hoped that the Hellund would like it.
The Hellund padded over to Light and quickly wolfed down the food. Wagging their tail and searching for more. The Bringer of Light pulled out another one before hand feeding it to the Hellund.
After that, the Hellund simply wouldn't leave Light alone and Light could not be happier about that. They knelt down beside the Hellund and brought them into a hug.
"Abigor." They whispered, softly. "The demon of war." They added before breaking into a large grin as the Hellund seemed to agree with the name.
And with that, Light Bringer and Abigor walked off, fully intending to go to their new home and raise a little hell.
