Here are a couple of tips that I use when drawing.

-Start with a light sketch!
-Layers are your best friend. Divide them between:
⠀⠀⠀*Sketch layer (bottom)
⠀⠀⠀*Lineart
⠀⠀⠀*Coloring goes UNDER the lineart, avoid paintbucket
⠀⠀⠀*Shading on TOP of the coloring, use opacity
-Always start with a circle, start from the head
-Search up references! It's okay to work off of a picture
-Super bright/bold colors may not do so well in art, try saturating the colors a bit
-Rotate the picture horizontally to make sure your proportions are correct
-Draw things that challenge you, it'll only help you improve
-Keep to your style but also remember anatomy
