Sandillions- what are they?
Sandillion brief:
A Sandillion is a short, feline-like creature with a similar long build to a weasel. While they may not get taller than 8 inches, they make up in body length, which can range anywhere from 5 inches to a foot and a half. Many features make this creature unique, like it’s long ears, raccoon-like paws, which can easily grasp things, and the armadillo-like armour it has on its back and along it’s tail. When this creature is afraid, it curls up into a tight ball, tucking its ears in and protecting itself with the armour.
Location:
They used to be found in only a small forest range, and were considered to be endangered at the time. Upon further investigation, they were found in many various areas, and were taken off of the endangered list. They can be found almost anywhere with the exception of deserts.
Diet:
Their diet usually consists of smaller animals (mostly mice, but they will try to take on larger animals than themselves if there is a shortage of food, like large birds), but if they can’t find an adequate food source, they will resort to seeds and flowers
Sociality:
Sandillions often times live on their own, but other times they live in packs called ‘needles’. A pack will defend the weak and the young members of any of its own species, regardless of whether it’s part of their needle or not. Sandillions typically form strong bonds with their pups, and if a sandillion leaves, chances are it will return to visit their parents. A sandillion typically has a family of three pups in their life, but it can of course be more or less.
Interaction with humans:
Wild Sandillions are often nervous around human beings, and will often skitter away if you approach it. Other sandillions are very friendly toward humans, and will often follow you around. When domesticated, they are great for assisting with tasks, such as locating and retrieving objects like lost keys and wallets. Unfortunately, this behavior can lead to them locating and hoarding other objects, most notably socks.
