Welcome to Gladius Drafts!

Gladius Drafts are hard to distinguish as a breed because they have a mixture of multitudes of other drafts in their bloodlines. They actually came about from a lot of cross breeding by novice horse breeders that had intended to create a breed that was large and had no real goals for the breed besides getting something bigger out of the breedings.
After over thirty years of mixing many breeds and cross breeding the already crossbred horses, someone noticed that there was a small group of yearlings and two year olds that held about the same height and temperament. Breeding for the biggest drafts failed for them but the temperament of these horses were something distinct and unique enough to bring about the interest in keeping them growing.
Height standards for this breed range from 16.3 hands to 17.3 hands.
Coat standards, there is a wide range seen in the breed due to all the mixed lines.
The only thing that is a must for the breed is a calm and curious attitude, even without too much handling Gladius Drafts are reluctant to flee or to fight. Possibly something about their size keeps anything from coming off as dangerous for them.
Intelligent, they can pick up training fairly quickly and have caused all kinds of people to come flocking to see what they can get Gladius Drafts to do.
