Chirping Kalingas, or "Kals" are a small mammalian rodent species, closely related to rats, and small bats. They range in size from a bumblebee bat, to a common large fancy rat. They take up living in abandon houses or in the walls, vents, under floorboards, and any other small space in any other home or apartment. They live off of things they find, and have been nicknamed "Borrowers" taking everything from food to material and trinkets. All posses a pair of wings on their front legs, feathered or leathery, though they're small and unable to actually fly with them, they use them to glide to get around most places.

Kals vary in shape and size, depending mostly on their environment and place in the nest. Some mutations in appearance are rarer than others and help certain Kals perform specific jobs among the nest. some things however remain constant among all of them

*All Kals have some sort of wing attached to their front legs.
*All Females have a pouch on their stomach to carry young
*All Kals have four fingers and a thumb. they're able to grasp, carry and open objects.
*All Uninjured Kals tails are at least the length of their body, if not longer.(Kals born with shorter tails or have tails that were injured at some point usually don't live long)
*All Kals have whiskers. those born without or those who've had theirs cut or removed usually don't live long

There is a list of other mutations that don't fit under a certain group. more is still being discovered, but the ones that have been found are as follows, increasing in rarity;
*Deafness; Kals with deafness usually don't live very long. the most common cause of deafness is albinism

*Pygmy; although usually an environmental mutation, pygmy kals have been found in normal nests. these are the small kals that range from the size of a bumblebee bat to a mouse

*Albinism; Kals with albinism usually don't live long in the wild. Their eyes are sensitive to light and may be blind. there is an increased chance of deafness in albino kals, and their fur makes them easy to pick out for predators

*Detached Wings; These are Kals with wings on their back instead or in addition to the wings on their front legs. these wings are usually larger and is usually a sign of status. usually only the largest male in charge of the whole nest has detached wings

*Flight; In very rare cases in Kals with detached wings, their wings have grown large enough to actually fly.

There are typically nests or entire areas dedicated to mothers and their young. They give birth to between 4-7 'pups' though usually only 2-4 survive. Depending on their place in the nest, the mother's treatment will vary. Those with a higher status usually have the most pups that live. The father rarely if at all helps in raising them, and after about a month, the pups are old enough to be carried around in the mother's pouch while she goes out. It's uncommon for a pair to mate for life, though it certainly isn't unheard of. usually older Kals decide to stick with one partner until death.

◼Guest Artists can own 9 with a custom up to a common rarity(can be saved if promoted to full artist for an uncommon)
◼Ask If you would like to sell your Kal for on or offsite currency. MUST GO THROUGH ME FIRST TO CHANGE OWNERSHIP
◼You may not create your own unless given permission by current owner
◼Kals can be bred a max of 7 times(again, may change later)
◼Go ahead and use as a character, or fursona, or whatever. SO long as credit is given to original creator(me and Glitch-Rat)
◼For Gifting, Trading, whatever, please post on the corresponding thread(if one is created for that) OR PM ME, and receive full permission from current owner.
