Hey, making good progress!
I tend to draw things with thicker necks, which doesn't seem to be a popular OC design choice here, and my demo is like, twice as wide as I meant it to be on top of that...

Red circle: There's a part of the neck/chin below the jaw, and it's at a different angle to the rest of the neck. Humans have this too!
In general, animals that have a thick, widening neck like that aren't going to be holding their head directly above their body - compare a horse or lizard to a kangaroo, and to a giraffe.

This is based on art from the site Flight Rising, so I was primarily using another artist as a reference. However, the way the neck looks might make you think of a few real animals... because that's what the design itself is based on! Even when you're being stylized or simplistic, it's hard to get a good mental image without something real in mind.
(I think the CS rules on referencing are pretty weird, in that they expect you to be looking at maybe two images - most of the mature/career artists I know pull up a whole page of google image thumbnails when they want a reference.)
