What are Rune Wolves? wrote: Rune Wolves are Wolves that can trace their ancestry all the way to Loki,
The god of tricks and Mischief. Each wolf wears a Runestone around their neck,
with one or more runes on it. The Rune represents a skill that they have, or in
rare cases, a power. An example would be the Rune Isaz. The rune meaning
is ice, and perhaps the Rune means the wolf has ice powers, or an icy
personality.

THEIR LEGEND/HISTORY
Although nobody knows the credibility of this myth that the
Rune wolves emerge from, it is an interesting story in the least.
Loki, the trickster god of the Norse Mythology, seemed to hate every god and
giant in each of the nine realms. But not men. Many who study the god noticed
that he left men alone, or aided those that opposed the same gods he did.
A saying floated among those outcasts, the Loki was the enemy of gods
and giants, but not men.
One fine summer evening, A young woman whose name has never
been remembered by history, called upon the God, with a plea.
Loki Appeared to answer her plea. With the young woman was a
small child, and the woman begged for the god to take her child
and raise her, for the villa she lived in wouldn't permit her to keep
the child for it was born under the full moon, and from a man that
wasn't her husband. Loki, Who was bound to a rock with a snake
poised above him until Ragnarok, agreed. Raising the child would
provide some respite from his torment.
And so he did. as much as he could Loki kept himself with the girl,
sometimes however he had to rest because he couldn't keep the
magic up that long. Throughout eighteen years with the girl, who
he had named Regalia, Loki had become attached to her like a man
does a woman. The other gods, particularly Odin, where enraged
with the connection between the mortal and the imprisoned god,
and seeking to take Loki's love away, they turned her into a beautiful
wild snow white wolf. It was a reference to Loki's kin, Fenrier.
Loki, however found a loophole to their spell, and turned his
manifestation into a large black wolf to be with her. each
of their offspring carry Runes around their necks to help
defend themselves from the overzealous gods. [/quote]
