Having a dad that was crazy about saving money isn't exactly great. As a child, Miles was rarely allowed to turn on the light as his father blamed electricity bills for sucking all his money when his father actually gambled it away. His mother had left them at an early age and he only has a small photo of her to know her by. He doesn't particularly miss her as he doesn't even know her that well, though one can't help but wonder what it would be like with a full family.

After their money was cut short, his father was unable to get a job and they were kicked on to the streets. The little money they could scrap by were used for drugs. Always drunk and in a daze, his father would abuse him during the night, where no one could see them. That's when the fear set in. Ever since the first beating began, Miles found himself trembling in the dark, shudders racking his body. When he got older, and managed to support himself, he realized he was traumatized by the darkness. Even a mere shadow would freak him out on a normal day, though he tries desperately to hide it. Now he's 18, suffering from Insomnia and shuddering through the night.

Miles built a wall around himself, determined to not let anyone know of his "condition". He's often described as solitary and independent, but if you give him time, he'll eventually let you past the barriers. He has a brotherly side of him that isn't often seen, but if there's a person in need of comforting, he'll be there. He often places himself before others, even if they are total strangers to him.

But now....

With his new found powers, Miles finds himself in a horrible position. He's afraid of himself and curses his very existence.
