Origin wrote:Native Plains Horses, also called NPH or Plains Horses, are the oldest breed originating in America. They began in the Great Plains after a few other breeds were introduced to the new land. It is believed that the breed started as a cross between an Arabian and an Akhal Teke. They were very useful for the Native Americans, assisting with hunting, travel, and even war. However, the breed experienced a great downfall, bringing it quite close to the point of extinction. Luckily, a few dedicated horsemen began working to bring the breed back, using Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred bloodlines to create the modern NPH.
Physical Appearance wrote:NPH are a gorgeous breed. They possess the height of the Thoroughbred with the strength of the Quarter Horse. They have also retained a small bit of their original Arabian x Akhal Teke features, such as a slight sheen to their coats. NPH stand anywhere between 15 hh - 17 hh. They also have a wide variety of colors, including all natural equine colors and markings.
