I wanted a breed with a purpose, even if I don't have much time for them it was nice to come up with the concept that I hope some will find nice!

lucky lurchers was originally a program founded by a collection of rescues, counseling groups, and breeders who came together with the idea of working with lurchers as service dogs. it has since shifted to encompass a wider margin of people, even sport type people and hunters. also including rescuing shelter dogs and pairing them with the right person. with the placidity and gentleness of the sighthound, the engaging nature of the terrier, intelligence of the herding breeds, and the solidness of the scenthound combined and mismatched with each individual hound, many are born with great potential to benefit those who need them in whatever way they need.

lurchers are not a recognized breed but a mix of dogs
for a dog to be a lurcher it must be part sighthound and either part terrier, herding breed, or scenthound
. credit the design as needed
. you are free to trade, sell, or rehome your lucky lurcher
. most lurchers will have edits personalized to their intermixed breeds
. feel free to ask to be added to your dogs' pages to get color codes or an image w/o the collar
. you may breed your lurcher outside of the program, though we will have breedings here eventually
