a crawling sensation up her spine- a dullness, not so much a pain. figuratively, the world around her dims. her consciousness ebbs and flows, but she can hardly keep her eyes open anymore. her brain asks her if it really matters that she stay awake for every class. if it really matters that she get an a, or a b, or if she pass at all. when will she use this theorem? will she die if she doesn't know the atomic weight of barium?

she turns a page in her notebook, and idly covers it in fractals, just looking for something to keep her mind and hands busy.

pain tugged at the corner of her heart as she stared at the black shadow in front of her. Her best friend... They had created a plan together, but little did she know that she was actually the part of the plan. She looked at the shadowy creature he had created. It was reaching out towards her, longing for her embrace. Without thinking, Yu reached out for the creature and their fingers connected. Suddenly, she felt the strong sting of sadness and grief. It hit her like a slap. The pain shattered her heart, the cracks of her glass skin ran across her skin like a once loved porcelain doll, now forgotten. And just like that, she was breaking like the shadow within her.

Why are they breaking?:
The more she forgets, the more she breaks, and the more she breaks, the more she looses herself.
I don't mean the "oh i forgot my car keys" type of forget, although it did start out with that. The shadow that fallows Mei everywhere she goes is always whispering lies into her ears. Telling her lies about herself and others, trying to change who she actually is. Lies that sound so real, that she just cant help but believe. But by believing a lie, she forgets the truth. The more lies the shadow tells, and the more she believes, the more she forgets. and the more she forgets, the more she breaks and looses herself. Until the last thing she can remember, is her name. And it wont be long till the shadow takes that away too, till she is nothing but a empty shell, left for the shadow to fill.

why are they breaking? ariadne was a very emotional young girl, who used to have mood swings at the drop of a hat. it wasn't until she was around eleven that she first felt jealousy, such a strong emotion. she kept it inside of her, bottled it up until a creature was manifested from it. the black shadow that resides around her now was created from that jealousy and now saps all emotions from her. she can express, but she cannot feel. on the odd occasion that ariadne's emotions somehow escape the shadow's grip, her outer begins to crack under the feeling of such foreign feelings, after all, she hasn't felt proper emotion for a long time. the cracks are how the shadow controls any and all emotion from her.

she literally cracks under pressure. when the shadow wants her to do something, she gets stressed and therefore, her fragile skin cracks.
she is physically a porcelain doll. she made a deal with this shadow that follows her around [because of this she is unable to have a real and normal shadow] to be alive, at the cost of this bugger tagging along. he is a vengeful soul, and tries to get her to do things against her own will.

Oka is breaking because, Her shadow is snapping slowly. It's pulling on her causing her to feel pain and be crazy. Her shadow is like a virus that never goes away, breaking her once and for all. The shadow grabs her causing her to crack and cover her eye with a patch. She can't help that she's breaking. She wants to be free but her shadow cracks her so Oka can't have freedom.

why are they breaking?: her fears; ever since she was small, she was quick to make judgements that only made her unsure and scared of the world around her. Because of this, she never went out and tried the things that other kids normally did and stayed inside where she was sure to be safe. Due to the fact that she deemed the mirror on her wall much safer to look into than out the window at all the frightening things outside, she got quite attached. One day, when the item mysteriously fell on the ground and cracked in a few places, she thought of the dangers and pain that her precious mirror could do to her and she was never really the same.
