What are fervils?
Flosfelidae antennis
Small, cat-like creatures of fey, fervils are an odd combination of an insect and a mammal.
They have long, curled tongues, like that of a butterfly, that they use to collect nectar, a
staple of their diet, but they can also hunt small rodents and birds with their sharp
canines. Fervils do not have a sense of smell, but rather they use the antennae on the back
of their heads to detect subtle changes in the air around them. Their sense of hearing and
sight are both quite keen, and they can see well in the dark.
Fervils are very mischievous and playful, but are also quite social, living in groups, known
as "tangles", of three or more. They are attracted to shiny, light objects, like tabs on soda
cans or nickles and dimes. Like most fey, though, they are repelled by iron and certain other
small things. These creatures, with their fey ancestry, can also float a few feet off the
ground, to the point they can somewhat fly around. They can also turn themselves invisible
to humans.
These faeries are not pets like dogs or cats (at least, not conventionally). While not
naturally intelligent, they are very picky with a humanoid that they may live with,
and you will definitely have to prove yourself to a fervil to be able to "own" one!
