3.Vea was originally bought by a stud farm to be used as a broodmare, but due to insufficient handling she was (and still is) very wary of human touch.

Because of this, when they occasionally hauled her out from the herd to trim her hooves and so forth, she fought valiantly against human contact, terrified of something she didn't understand. These battles eventually led to her severe injuries, and while the stable hands did their best to treat her wounds, their care was substandard. This led to the wounds festering, damaging her eyesight permanently. From the infection, Vea gradually grew weaker until she was naught but skin and bones, on the brink of death.

Thankfully however, the mare's appalling condition was finally reported to the appropriate authorities and she was removed from the premises to end up at a shelter for rehabilitation.
