A Story About Meg
This is a story about Meg. This is also a story about Forte, her friend. It is also kind of a story about lizard men. But mostly this story is about Meg. And Meg is currently trapped in a small room of a lizard man hut. It is a small room, with a small window way up high and a closed door that Meg has no way of opening.

Meg wasn't sure how she had gotten here. Her last memory from before waking up in the room was that of climbing a tree with her hood up. Her hood of her jacket made her feel like a hero and it made her feel better to imagine that she was a super powerful hero. And before that, she remembered those Lizardmen who had taken her from her parents and sent her somewhere far away. It seemed that she had all but forgotten what a Lizardman looked, smelled, and basically was like. Perhaps it was a memory that she suppressed?

At any rate, remembering would not help her get out. The room was fairly empty asides from a bowl of some food that Meg did not really want to touch, a big thing of water, and a basket full of strange fuzzy things. She wasn't particularly interested in the fuzzy things. Meg began to pace, trying to find a way to get out. She paused mid stride to pull up her hood. It really comforted her when she wore it.

Finally, after she was sick of pacing, Meg went to the place just across from the tiny window and sprang to the window, trying desperately to grab the tiny ledge that the window created. Her paws were furiously trying to catch it, only for her to fall to the ground below. She growled, eyes narrowed at the window. She just had to figure out how to get through the window. So, Meg tried again. This time, she managed to make it up to the ledge, holding on with only her paws as she strained to hold herself up.

Suddenly, a green scarfyz appeared on the other side of the window. He look surprised to see her, and he seemed to be standing on a ledge outside! He seemed to be trying to speak to her, but she had no idea because the substance in the window seemed to be blocking sound. He sighed and bumped his head against the window, which surprised her enough to cause her to fall. Her landing was not graceful by any means, and she was sure that she would have some bruises.

A flap in the door opened, and the green scarfyz walked in. Wait, there was a flap in the door? Meg felt dumb. She really should have checked the door. The other scarfyz stared at her confused for a while, and she stared back.

"Er, hi! My name is Forte, what's yours?" he asked. Meg stared at him for a while. What an interesting scarfyz! Was he trying to make friends? Meg didn't know, as she much preferred to strike it out on her own. Much easier to hide from lizardmen.

"Um, hi there Forte. I am Meg. Do you live with the lizard men? I mean, you don't normally find the fancy stuff you are wearing out in nature," she said, waving her paw at his carousel outfit, not that she knew what it was.

He nodded seriously. "Yes, lived here all my life, and I don't really know why anyone would leave. Well, except to go exploring. Is that why you don't live with the Lizardmen? And why you are trying to escape?" Forte seemed to eager to know, and Meg just had to oblige.

"Well," she said dourly. "It is a lot more complicated than that. While I was born in a lizardmen place, they were not very nice to me because I wasn't what they wanted, so when they got the chance, they separated me from my parents and sent me out into the woods. Probably to die, I shouldn't wager. So, I guess you could say I am permanently exploring, except when I get caught."

"So, you got caught then?" asked Forte, his excitement growing. "And if I help you escape, could I go permanently exploring with you too? I often dream of going away from here, but I like my outfit. If I go, can I wear it?"

"Can you catch your own food?" Meg asked. "It is very important you know. If I let you come I can't teach you. I can teach you other things, but food is up to you."

"Yes, yes I can hunt. I am not very good at it. But I am sure I can get better at it!" Forte smiled at her. "So, can I come?"

Meg nodded. "If you can get me out of this lizardmen place and to the forest, then I can take over from there, and yes, you can come."

"Huzzah!" cheered Forte. "Now come through the door with me, and I'll watch for Lizardmen while you come out. We can go as soon as possible, right?"

"Yes, Forte, we will go as soon as possible," Meg replied, ready to go.

Forte then poked his head out of the flap. "It is safe," he called back. Then he scampered through the door, and Meg followed. The flap was rather uncomfortable for her to push through, but she made it out just fine. There were no lizardmen in sight, and Meg could see the forest. She bolted off in that direction, Forte following along behind her. They didn't stop running when they got there, just kept going, and going until Meg felt like they had put enough distance between them and the lizard men.

"We're safe now, I think." Meg said gasping for breath. "Welcome to your new home, Forte. Now Let's get some food and get to know each other better before we continue on a journey far away from lizardmen."
