"Sing to me again...
Sing about the world you left for me."

Image

To be bound to you not by chains nor heavy tethers
But a weight rivaling the world upon star-dusted feathers
To the moon of roses, red, where my homeland be
What does she represent, what does she mean to me?

Oh sing, my moon, as I'm plagued by troubled thoughts
Of the days of old, when our peaceful lands were wrought.

How my enemies howled as their skulls kissed the earth
Their maws, gnarled and gnashing as they cursed my birth.
Every soul that has trespassed, every foe that I maim
Til' the lands, cleansed with blood, was yours again to reclaim.

Oh trust me, my moon, that I may be cleansed of doubt
That one day you'd return to chase these demons out.

Years pass before the world is graced with your glower
A crimson glare so sinister, even warriors would cower.
But not once since that day did I find you in the welkin
And not once since that day did I take pride in my sin.

Oh tell me, my moon, what captures your wondrous gaze
My triumph in battle or the end of my days?

Thus, for each new harvest of the land do I wait
To see her face once more til the day I meet my fate.
For the moon of roses, red, as this earth's serf and thrall,
To me, she is everything; to her, I was nothing at all.

"If ever there's a war,
I'll go."
