Hyenas are best animal species <3
Though, they aren't really a "rival" of lions. All predators fight eachother for resources, it is just a popular stereotype that hyenas and lions naturally want to kill eachother constantly for no reason or that it is just nature /coughthelionkingcough/

Also only Striped Hyenas and Brown Hyenas have large manes. Spotted Hyenas typically have more of a scruffy line of fur tufts along their spines.
