Normally, I freak out when people don't know how to use layers, but this came out cute!
If you want to try layers, the layers box is beneath the pen/pencil/etc sizes box. Click the + to add layers, and the - the remove the highlighted layer. Lock Alpha will come in handy for coloring stuff in.
