Griva Sobaka – from the Russian грива собака meaning Mane Dog; often called Grivas for short.
- Griva Sobakas carry lineage from a number of different breeds, most notably the Borzoi, Siberian Husky, and Caucasian Shepherd. They were originally bred as a multipurpose dog for the working and lower classes in Russia and have performed a large variety of tasks over the span of their existence, including: cart and sled pulling, herding livestock, tracking and hunting (bears and wolves, mostly), acting as guard dogs (for both humans and livestock), and on occasion for entertainment and sport: dog racing. As such they are very intelligent and highly trainable, able to adapt easily to a great many different tasks. Temperament varies greatly, but all Griva Sobakas require plenty of exercise or can become frustrated and destructive; they are first and foremost working dogs and they require a job of some sort to lead healthy, happy lives. In a day and age when dogs are required less and less for the purposes they were originally bred for, dog sports have become a great outlet for giving Griva Sobakas the jobs they need.
General Rules
- 1. All Tess’s rules apply.
2. Do not whine, bribe, guilt trip, etc. ANYONE for ANYTHING or you will be banned from owning a Griva.
3. Dogs can share Call Names, but all Show Names should be unique and cannot be shared. Show Names can obviously be similar (say one dog's show name is Angel of Darkness, another could be Angel of Light, whatever), but not the WHOLE name. You do not need anyone's permission to use a name as a Call Name, even if it has been previously used. All dogs in YOUR kennels should have unique call names from each other, however (and why would you name two dogs the same anyway? Boring).
4. SHOW NAMES CANNOT BE CHANGED AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN CHOSEN. Every dog is recorded by their Show Name in all the archives, and I will not be going through and changing every single instance of them every time you decide to change your mind. You can change their Call Names all you want, but once you have won a Griva, the Show Name you won with is the Show Name it will ALWAYS have.
5. Any tryout art you make or order belongs to YOU, regardless if you win the Griva or not. You are free to have it recolored and reuse it for another Griva or whatever. You are free to gift it to the winner if you wish, but you do not have to by any means.
6. We have a 3 strike system for rulebreakers. You get 1 warning for minor infractions because you may not be aware that you did something wrong, but depending on the severity of what you’ve done, we may skip the warning or even some of the strikes. 1 strike means you cannot adopt for 1 week; you will be disqualified from any and all contests you are currently participating in until your 1 week is up. 2 strikes means you cannot adopt for 1 month, again you’ll be disqualified from current contests you might be participating in. 3 strikes means you are banned from Grivas for good and we reserve the right to take your current Grivas from you and readopt them out.
7. You are not required to join the Kennel Club website; anything you need to be able to view on the website you can view as a guest. However there will be occasional adopts, contests, and special events on the website that only members will be able to participate in, and anyone that joins the website gets a bonus $10,000 added to their bank.
Adoption Rules
*I must note here that all instances of me referring to money below is talking about our fictional money that will be used in this adopt, which you can earn and spend in a variety of ways that I will detail later (Do not fear, Griva Sobakas will always be, ultimately, FREE).
- 1. Everyone may adopt 1 dog for free. After you adopt your first dog, you must set up a Kennel if you wish to adopt any more. Most dogs will have a price, but every so often a free adopt will come along. Note that all dogs will have a naming contest as well as a price, so the artist will get to decide who wins, but you can't win if you don't have the money to pay for the dog. 2. Free adoptions may have contests other than naming contests and may be far more complicated/harder than dogs that you can simply buy with a good name.
3. Everyone is granted 1 free Size 1 General Kennel and $50,000 after they adopt their first dog. You may own as many dogs as your Kennels allow for, and that you can afford to buy. You are allowed 3 Kennels PER ACCOUNT (archives are really hard to keep straight when people share accounts, so if you share accounts you have to share Kennels and Grivas too). See Kennel Types for more information.
4. After you adopt a dog, you must own it for one full REAL LIFE month before you are allowed to sell, gift, or trade it. If you are gifting or trading the dog, both people must alert the me so I can update the dog's page to reflect any changes. If you are selling the dog, both of you must alert me so I can shift money around properly in your bank accounts (otherwise you won't get paid for your dog!).
5. YOU MAY ONLY SELL GRIVAS FOR GRIVA CURRENCY, YOU MAY ONLY TRADE GRIVAS FOR OTHER GRIVAS. You cannot sell or trade Grivas for FR currency, C$, FR dragons, CS pets, other CS adoptable species, or ANYTHING else. If I find out you have been doing any of these things, you will be immediately banned from the species and all of your Grivas taken from you and re-adopted out.
6. You will not be added to the lines if you win, there's no need for you to be added. If you want hex codes, ask the artist to get them for you or save the image to your computer and open it in your art program to get them on your own.
7. Customs can be purchased in the Shop and may also be awarded as prizes for winning various events, so do not post asking for customs.
