~ K A I ~
Kai are Amphibious creatures who are able to live on land as well as in water. They are closely related to seals, as well as their more intelligent ancestors, Dolphins. These creatures are always found in groups, as they get lonely if left by themselves for too long. Kai are highly intelligent and hunt much like their relatives the Dolphin. They eat a diet of solely meat, typically small fish, shell fish and crustaceans. Kai have been known to befriend other sea creatures, but often times Kai prefer the company of their own kind.

Size and Weight
Female and Male Kai are very different in size. The Males can become almost twice as large as the Females and can weigh double the weight as well. On average though, Kai weigh anywhere from 250-500lbs. Equally, Kai can grow anywhere from 3-8 feet. These sizes can have out-liers, leading towards a much larger or much smaller Kai in comparison the the rest of the community.
Physical Traits
Unlike Seals or Dolphins, Kai do not have a prominent tail. Their tail is streamlined and thin. It is meant more for defense then it is for fast moving. Kai also have two sets of flippers, all of which are very powerful and capable of propelling them up to 30 mph under water. Kai's sleek bodies are built for quick turns and agile getaways. Kai are also built with big eyes, ears and nostrils. These help enhance their ability to hear, see and smell underwater in order to hunt food and to escape predators.
Diet
Kai eat around 10-20lbs of food a day. Since they are constantly on the move, they require a huge amount of food to keep up their energy. Kai are strictly carnivores, eating shell fish, small fish and crustaceans. They tend to lean more towards small fish as it is easier to find and catch given the techniques they use. However, if hungry enough, Kai are willing to eat just about anything, even if it is a pain to catch,
Coloration
Kai come in a variety of colors and patterns. These variations are huge, but the basic traits of Kai always remain the same. Though any variety is possible, some colors are more dangerous than others to have. Bright colors are more likely to attract predators, making those who were born bright a perfect target for trouble. That being said, life isn't so bad for Kai. Their vast variety of colors, as well as mutations, makes for a fun and diverse group.
Growth
Kai once born start growing but at a slow steady pace. Considering Kai live to be well over 100, teenage years last much like human years do, and adulthood comprises the longest stretch of a Kai's life. In pup hood, most Kai are very dependent on it's parents and are extremely vulnerable. It isn't until pups turn 5-10 years of age, that they are able to at least put up a fight against a hungry predator. As a Kai heads toward adulthood, they double in size and learn how to hunt food, as well as work in a coordinated group. By the time Kai become adults, they are highly intelligent pack hunters, capable of getting food fast and efficiently, as well as knowing the dangers and luxuries of life.
Breeding
When Kai breed, they must first pick a suitable mate. This mate will be their partner for the rest of a Kai's life. This pair, once ready, is able to breed once every 5-10 years. Once the mother gives birth, she can have anywhere from 1-2 pups. Pups must suckle milk from the mother until the age of 3 years. The pups will then be weaned off and will begin eating food their parents do. It is not uncommon for other Kai females to care for one another's young.
Social
Kai are very sociable, communal creatures. They spend every moment of their lives with at least one other Kai around, due to their need for love and affection and their nature to become very depressed when alone for too long. Kai enjoy company, and are often found playing around much like seals or even dolphins do. These creatures tend to keep in large pods (or groups), ranging from 2-30 Kai of all ages and genders.

Star Light Caves
Star Light Caves are underground air pockets. They vary in size, but are large enough for dozens of Kai to sprawl out on the damp cave floors. No light reaches these caves, and yet, due to the reflective and clear water, it almost appears like starlight is touching the bottom of the ocean. It is a memorizing place, and one of Kai's favorite getaways. However, getting there can be treacherous and the waters are swarmed with sharks and other predators.
Ridge-back Reef
Ridge-back Reef is a large expanse of land overflowing with thousands of different fish and plant life. It is the favorite hang out for any Kai with it's beautiful colors and abundance of food. Ridge-Back is known as the largest reef in the sea, and is a safe haven for Kai to come and feed.
Iceberg Plains
The Iceberg Plains are located near the Arctic where temperatures are below freezing and ice formations are everywhere. This place is extremely dangerous, and considering the shifting ice, quick freezing surfaces and predators abundant, Kai who live here must be very careful. Food is hard to come by, but the cool atmosphere seems to attract the more daring and adventurous Kai.
Dead Man's Drop Off
Dead Man's Drop Off is a huge ridge that opens up to a deep underwater abyss. This abyss goes 1,000 feet below the oceans surface and is filled with danger. It is nothing more than wide open ocean, allowing for plenty of opportunity for predators to get an easy snack. Kai who live here are built for the deep deep sea, and prefer the dark and danger over the sunny slopes of the Reef.
