I can see my lot loving oatmeal based snacks! Not sure what an apple jack is, clueless Scottish person here! But if it is an apple flavoured flapjack, then the horses would probably chase me for it.
I have an older Shetland pony in the clinic at the moment, one of his issues is severe dehydration because he was refusing to drink, easiest solution we have found, is making up bug buckets of tea for him. He absolutely loves it, won't touch plain water, but guzzles tea!
Another weird one my own horse, who loves crackers, like the crackers you get for cheese. Especially water biscuits (basically just flour, butter and water) with poppy seeds in them, I make them as snacks at the yard, they are good to stick in your pocket to munch during the day. Kelvey loves them, if i take one for myself, i normally end up splitting it with him.
Hi guys, I have just finished vet school and am working on a highland project managing the moors with a herd of highland ponies. I am happy to answer horsey questions and give advice. but PLEASE don't ask for medical advice, my answer will always be to call a vet.
