Bijoux are a type of miniature deer who are closely related to kirins. They are small bovids that, instead of keratin, have gems or minerals that form their hooves, horns, and a thin layer beneath their skin to serve as a shield. They are herbivores that stand two feet tall and mostly munch on the lower foliage along with a range of berries. Bijoux live in herds of 5-8 and rely on the King or Queen of the herd to lead and protect them. Their temperament can be compared to that of a fawn; they love to play with each-other and other creatures; sometimes their curiosity gets the best of them, but while simultaneously they can be very timid or shy creatures and need reassurance that they are not endanger. Most Bijoux are active during the day and early nightfall, but it's been recorded that some Bijoux with darker fur seem to favour the darkness and are nocturnal to help blend in with their surroundings; however this does not affect their personality in anyway. Nocturnal Bijoux are uncommon. Caves are very sacred to Bijoux and some herds even live in them to be closer to the precious stones found within.

Bijoux come in an array of colours and coat patters. However the gem or mineral a Bijou possesses plays a big part on the colour of the Bijou. Their ears are also something to note, they are not perfect ovals. The average Bijou stops growing after six months but it's horns don't! So to keep their head gear manageable instead of shedding them they are constantly releasing a twinkling dust off their racks.
Like crystal growths every horn growth is unique! Bijoux have quite a few traits, some rarer than others.

HORNS![]()
The average Bijou has two horns that protrude from the skull, making it a common gene.
Bijoux with one horn are uncommon.
Any Bijou with more than two horns is considered rare.
The purple circles are the possible places for horns to grow.
OTHER GENES
- Genes have been grouped according to their rarity. Most Bijoux genes are assorted.Bobbed Tails aren't really a gene but rather their natural tails.
Tufts however are not always present on a Bijou but are still quite common.Ribbon Tails are a mutation of the Bobbed tail, where the hair has overgrown and drapes down.
Manes, like all the hair on a Bijou, are very puffy and silky. The Mane can be compared to a lion's mane but it does not reach the bottom of the neck.Royal Tails only grace a few of the Bijou population making it a rare gene and quite a sight!
The Noble's Crest is a small tuft of fur located on the bridge of the nose.
Feathering is where the lower fur grows longer than the rest of the body, similar to tufts but much rarer.
"Scales" aren't actually scales at all but rather the gems/minerals in them are protruding from their body. Most scales stay close to the body of the Bijou, but some grow into larger crystals. Scales are mostly seen on the upper part of the body.
MARKINGS
pie-bald . shimmer . stripes . spotsCommon markings consist of anything basic or natural; such as piebald, stripes, and spots. These markings can cluster together or space apart. One notable common gene however is shimmer; they are not markings but rather dust from the horns which gather on the fur, they are not bound to one marking.
galaxy clouds . VG swirls . VG stripes"Galaxy Clouds" are probably the most favoured uncommon marking. Its reminiscent of galaxies or space. The stripes are very cloud like and uneven and sparkles gather just on the stripes which mimic stars.
"Van Gogh" Is when swirls or stripes form hard gradients on the body.
lace . starsAny marking that seems to take a geometric shape or obvious design is rare. Like lacing or star markings.

Bijoux live in a truly magical world filled with mythical beings that coexist and rely on each other. Faeries form strong bonds with Bijoux and are often seen living close together.
Nightfall is anything but dark. The bio-luminescent plants keep the forest alive with their glowing foliage.
There are three major locations that Bijou herds have been found, those being the Cavern of Creation, Sky Columns, and the Vagarian woods. But small fractions have been found in other locations and continue to grow.

CAVERN OF CREATION
It is believed that the Cavern of Creation is where Bijoux originated. Filled with many caves and glimmering crystals only the arcane call these caverns home. At the heart of the system is large tree whose branches are filled with glow worms that illuminate in the cover of night. By day the caverns are lit by holes in the ceiling, which also allows foliage to grow and prosper.
SKY COLUMNS
Pillars as large as 50ft tower above the meadows and streams below. With many different bridges and elevations, Bijoux find it very easy to navigate the columns. The gentle winds cradle the land and creates a calm and peaceful atmosphere, much like the nomadic Bijoux that inhabit it.
VAGARIAN WOODS
The towering trees of Vagarian Woods make ideal homes for the Faeries and Bijoux that live there, working side by side to keep the forest healthy and beautiful. The Bijoux that dwell here are very down to earth and are unified to the land and the other creatures with whom they share it with.
