Tales can be heard from those who lose their way, deep in the mountains, of small creatures
whose eyes flash bright with power and cause strange things to happen. The dark pillars of
the pines conceal them, a glimpse of a bushy tail, a scrap of downy soft fur all the traces
they supposedly leave behind. Blurred memories, burns, teleportation, voices in the mind;
the story tellers would have you believe that demons roam the crags and caves. Yet these
creatures do bare a touch of the mystical, a hint of the ethereal, and hiding among the trees
and bluffs are the least of their means to conceal themselves...

Chinchirits [Chinchilla+Spirits] are actually not at all closely related to actual chinchillas,
but rather are quite similar due to convergent evolution. However, while they look so
alike and developed in much the same sort of environments, Chinchirits are vastly different
from their counterparts in that they are highly intelligent and possess strong spiritual ties to
a realm of mystical energy that they are born through and which they harness later in life
in order to give themselves many special abilities. Their magic manifests first in their eyes,
appearing there in adolescence when they are very scared as a brief flash of the glowing
color that will appear later in life as a sort of aura when they use their powers. These auras
are alive with many light "particles" that seem to float within the energy, often taking shape
in simple symbolic forms: stars, leaves, hearts, coins, pokeballs, etc. The intensity of the
glow of magic in a Chinchirit's eyes indicates the strength of their ties to the mystical realm
and thus how much power they can channel and their finesse in controlling it.
Their powers come on only when they are in grave danger as children, but as they age and
mature, they will gain control over these energies. On very rare occasions a kit may find
that they have a weak, but workable constant connection to the mystic realm. These are
always the Chinchirits who grow up to be the strongest magic users and often become shamans
for their people out of necessity, usually being gifted with healing and fate changing abilites.
Each Chinchirit's abilities are different, though not necessarily unique, but they all have a
very special power in common: shape-shifting. When shape-shifted, a Chinchirit can be
identified by the faint trail of their magic particles that they shed and while even the very
weakest of Chinchirits can achieve this shift, how long they can shift and how drastically
different from their true form they can become is limited by their power. While Chinchirits
often take on any form of intelligence, they usually choose only one or two "lesser" creatures
that they feel comfortable turning into.

.:Mates and Breeding Rules & Info:.
- Chinchirits are creatures that have a strong capacity for love, making deep bonds
==with all those they are close to: friends, lovers, children, teachers, etc.
The ways in which they express their love are varied and unique and not
barred by species.
When they choose to have a child, a Chinchirit and its chosen mate each take
a scrap of their fur (or scales, feathers, etc.) as well as some symbolic object
that they feel will represent an aspect of their child and make it into a small
packet that they send into the mystic realm from which a child is formed.
Very rarely, the resulting child will turn out to be children.
- Twins occur about once in fifty breedings.
+Chinchirits must be owned for at least a month before breeding.
+To breed, the couple must have a finished RP or a "courtship" art.
+Chinchirits can breed with any species that can breed with it.
=== Though they usually only have children with their own kind.
+Children will take after both parents.
=== Hybrids will take most strongly after their Chinchirit parent.
=== A hybrid may be "infertile" if they do not possess enough
=== Chinchirit magic in their soul to breed through magic.
+Chinchirits may or may not mate for life, each decides that for themself.
+Chinchirits take two months to recover enough magical energy to
=== create another child.
