Crowned Canids are wolf hybrids of a stocky build and medium height. They lived on Earth long ago, but due to danger of extinction were herded to an island, along with small amounts of other animals, such as deer. The island floats in orbit of the Earth, whilst always remaining in its atmosphere, due to an extremely large magma chamber below it, which expels gases hot enough to keep it airborne. Nobody is quite sure what keeps it hot, and there are myths that there is a dragon which lives there and controls the heat, however nobody really knows. The Canids are very intelligent and are usually placid while observed at a distance.

◆ Crowned Canids are stocky, medium height wolf hybrids which are known for their grace and intelligence. They are usually placid when observed from a distance, but can be quite hostile towards new species entering their territory. ◆

◆ Long ago, Canids lived on earth, usually in warmer climates. Being quite small and colourful, however, they became the easy prey of larger predators. This, paired with climate change, forced their numbers down until they were in danger of extinction. To save the species, as many of the Canids as could be found were herded onto an island. This island orbits the earth while remaining in its atmosphere, due to a huge magma chamber beneath its surface, which expels gases hot enough to keep it airborne.

◆ Canids are wolf hybrids which have a medium build and short, stocky legs. They have long fur around their neck and extending up their nape, which appears similar to a mane and continues slightly down their backs. Canids have one large, hooked claw on each leg which is used for tearing food and, occasionally, as a weapon. A Canid's tail is similar to that of a white-tailed deer, the underside of which is commonly brightly coloured, and is held up to warn other Canids of danger. Some Canids have horns, a development in the species to help to ward off predators. A Canid's horns are often the same colour as the underside of the tail, however this is not always the case. Another development in the species are plumes, light, feathery growths in the head which appear to help the Canid to sense for danger. Not all Canids have these, and there is only a 50% chance of plumes being passed on to offspring.

◆ Foundation (1st generation) Canids each have an anklet/bracelet, made with gemstones in various colours. These were assigned to each Canid as they were being herded onto the island, as a way to keep track of the population increase in Canids, should the island ever land. This means no nursery-born Canid may have an anklet. Canids are very proud of their appearance, and often try to outdo each other by adding accessories. Quite often, Canids can be seen wearing brightly coloured masks, skulls and feathers.

◆ Canids, usually being sociable animals, can be found in packs, sometimes with as many as 30 members. The packs are not limited to family, and are usually accepting new Canids all the time. Pack members care for each other and food is shared between them as fairly as possible. There is usually little competition between packs, besides some small rushes to get the best of something. Some Canids, however, do live alone or with a partner. These are never quite isolated from other Canids, even if they do not interact with others as often as some Canids may.

◆ Young Canids, called pups, live with their parents until they reach twelve years of age. At this age, young Canids may wander away from their family, however they are still watched carefully by older Canids to make sure that they don't come to any harm. By the age of seventeen, Canids are seen as adults and no longer need to be looked after by other Canids. A Canid's lifespan is long, with some Canids reaching 100, or more.

◆ How do I adopt one?
>>>◆ Just click the image of the Canid that you wish to adopt. If the Canid is up for adoption, follow the requirements typed out by its artist. This will most likely involve filling out a form. If you don't win the Canid, don't worry! There will be plenty more to come!

◆ Can I be an artist/mod?

◆ Why can't I have a custom?
>>>◆ Customs are unavailable to the public because Canids aren't born custom-made. Staff are allowed customs because they work for it.

◆ I don't see ears. How do they hear?
>>>◆ Canids have small, wolf-like ears which are hidden inside the 'crown' of fur on their heads. This means that while they can hear, sound is muffled and Canids rely mostly on their sight and sense of smell to detect danger. It is thought that this is why some Canids developed plumes.

◆ Can I change ________ part of my Canid's design?
>>>◆ No. You may not change any part of your Canid's design unless you have a good reason to, in which case you need permission from its artist.

◆ What will happen if I break the rules?
>>>◆ If you break any of the rules, you will gain a warning. After three warnings, you will be banned for one month. After the ban, if you get three warnings and continue the break the rules, you will be banned for three months. The next ban will be six months, the one after that one year and if you are banned after that, the ban will be permanent. You will automatically be permanently banned from the species with no warnings if you claim to own the species, steal the species or steal a design on this species' lines.

◆ Can I add ________ to my Canid's lines?
>>>◆ No. You may not add to a Canid's lineart, unless you're adding accessories (i.e. a collar, piercings). New! You may add line edits (Hair etc), BUT you must have permission from me. In order to gain permission, you must request it from me (hellohihi) via PM. I have the right to decline any requests.

◆ Can I make my Canid have magic powers?
>>>◆ No. Canids, while being colourful, possess no magical powers, they can't control natural forces and they cannot glow.

◆ Can I enter the contest for Canid ____ so I can give it to my friend?
>>>◆ No. You may not enter a contest for a friend, or with the intention of giving the Canid to a friend. You may, however, help a friend to work on their form.
