Chimeras -- WIP, no posting

Postby BlackWren » Sun Dec 07, 2014 10:34 am

Chimeras. They're a highly intelligent breed of canine, consisting of its own hierarchy, language, lore, and traditions. At a young age, these beasts are taught the basics of hunting as well as given their first weapon - something hand-crafted by their parents for the child to use to protect themselves from danger.
Their tails are strong and whip-like, but the bones in the tail are delicate. They also sport retractable claws, which allows them to be stealthy in many situations. Their dense and long fur allows them to survive in their cold climate and their large ears give them heightened hearing.
The world Chimeras live in is a dangerous one, filled with birds larger than trees, snakes that can swallow them whole, and many dangerous forms of prey. Knowing this, four young adult Chimeras are given the honor to train under an instructor to become a Knight every year. Knights protect the pack from these dangers, and occasionally one will reach a general or even commander position.

Information
World
The world Chimeras live on is called Nova. This plaint the the home of Chimeras and their fellow wildlife. It's skyes are constantly a violet color, even during clear days. The grass is gold, similar to wheat in color. Trees with blue and teal leaves tower over lakes that are as clear as crystal and mountains darken the horizon with their eminence height, crested in tons of snow.
Snow falls constantly in the world, however the water that these wildlife depend one does not freeze no matter how cold the air becomes. The earth is hard and cold, and the skys at night light up will millions of stars and two moons can be seen from the sky, these moons named Nox and Ra.

Wildlife
Rajas, Bokuas, and Silvers are three main types of animals that mostly interact with Chimeras. A Raja is a large, predatory bird resembling an Eagle. They sport nasty looking talons and prey mostly on Bokuas, though occasionally Chimeras become prey to the gigantic birds. Their wing span is massive, stretching 10 meters while their body it's self is only 5 meters long. Their feathers come in a range of colors, the most common being a cinnamon or slate color
A Bokua is a fluffy white furred goat, the main prey for Chimeras. However, its horns are dangerous and can easily cause a fatal wound to a Chimera.
Their horns vary from each gender, females sporting the largest of their horns. They use these horns to dig up the ground to find roots to eat as well as to protect their offspring.
A Silver is a scaly, snake-like predator that likes to hunt Chimeras for fun. Their tough hide makes it tough to kill them. However, their weak spot is the juncture where their jaw meets the rest of their body - or rather neck.
They come in a variety of colors, sizes, and some are even poisonous. Luckily, these massive creatures are outnumbered 1/7 with Chimeras. Adults are typically between 200ft-300ft, and are commonly a green color. Like most snakes, they swallow their prey whole by dislocating their jaws.

Weapons and armor
At a young age, Chimeras are taught to defend themselves. They are given hand-crafted weapons when they're pups, of which they learn to use in adolescence. All weapons are close-range, ranging from daggers abd knives to axes, swords, staffs, spears, whips and maces. Chimeras do not use propelling or long-distance weapons, due to their lack of a good aim.
Though necessary in most battle, not every Chimera has the luck to own their own armor. Those of high ranks - Ultimate Leaders, Subordinate Leaders and occasionally Alphas - are required armor to distinguish themselves and protect them. However, some Chimeras may stumble upon used armor or possibly even afford to buy themselves their own set with the species currency; Scales.
