Felidai are feline creatures, genetically engineered by the government for use by law enforcement. These creatures are used to stalk those on parole, those who are suspect to a crime, and similar situations. Some felidai are more muscular, and are used in much the same way as drug/bomb sniffer dogs and are great use in airports and train stations to stop terrorist attacks and drug smuggling.
other info:
the spikes on the legs and tail hold needles with a mild paralyzing toxin, it won't kill the target but will render them immobile until the police can arrive, since felidai aren't big enough, or strong enough to hold down anyone. it's only used if the suspect discovers the felidai following them and runs. The felidai will report to police with location using the antennae visible on it's back
the two thick whiskers are heat censors to find criminals hidden out of plain eye sight.
felidai have terrible day eye sight, but eye sight at night is infrared vision. their other senses are advanced to make up for the lack of daylight vision.
the ear 'fuzz' on the outside of the ear can sense movements in the air, but are only really useful if there isn't too much movement around the felidai
the tracking device on their backs are there so the police and follow their movements.

felidai designs, are meant to be functional at least, for instance my felidai Mythri is used for night time tracking, her markings dim in low light so she can't be seen very well
