Kitsuneko's Name: Tora
Gender: Male
Personality/Bio: This kitsuneko, much like what his appearance is based on, is rather proud and skilled. Though he is a fierce fighter {and has frequently tested his strength on many dull-witted victims}, Tora prefers to use his brains and cunning to defeat his opponent. Tora has a short temper and alongside this rather negative trait, isn't the most patient individual. Though he is rather snappy and one would need a little bravery and perhaps equal intelligence to find his next move, Tora's strong, unbreakable loyalty to friends and family makes him a valuable friend if you can get past his rough exterior.
Tora was not always so guarded and angry however, he was once a quiet, friendly, albeit easily manipulated, kitsuneko. When he was growing up, he was always surrounded by a large group of friends and even had a couple experiences in love. It was easy to think that his popularity and charm would stay with him throughout his life. Unfortunately, this assumption was soon proven wrong.
In the weeks leading to when he could officially call himself an adult, Kitsunekos had been mysteriously disappearing from his village with no sign of where they had gone, whether it was their will or if someone had purposefully taken them. When the village's mayor decided to open applications for village guards, to try and stop the culprit of the disappearances, Tora quickly signed up with hope that he could somehow take the problem into his own paws and find the missing Kitsunekos. His friends and family attempted to stop him, telling him it was too dangerous and that he was too young but Tora simply shrugged off their pleas, determined to get to the bottom of the disappearances.
One day, whilst patrolling outside the village, he met a beautiful kitsuneko named Cho. She told him she was interested in settling down in the village and finding her one true love. Tora had instantly fallen for her and, after learning a little more about her, invited her to meet him in the nearby sakura forest in the evening. She, also seemingly interested in him, agreed. The day flew by and soon the sky was dark and sewn with stars and he rushed to the forest with his thoughts on the angelic and gorgeous kitsuneko he was about to meet.
Tora found Cho sitting quietly on a tree stump, staring absently in the distance. She jumped as he sat beside her then smiled as she realised it was Tora. "How are you?" She asked, her eyes seemingly glowing in the moonlight.
"Amazing..." Tora breathed, finding himself captured in her pale gaze. "And how are you?"
"Same as you! It's great to be here with you.." Cho smiled, rubbing her muzzle against his.
Tora felt his cheeks flush pink beneath his striped pelt and hesitantly returning her nuzzle. He blinked slowly and opened his maw to speak then closed it and shook his head before opening it again.
"What are you doing, Tora? You're acting like a fish!" Cho laughed, mimicking his actions.
"I...er..I wanted to tell you something, Cho." He mumbled, his blush getting pinker and a little more prominent.
Cho's expression turned serious and she cocked her head a little, blushing. "What is it?"
"I-er...I..well...I mean...I.." Tora stammered, shaking his head before he squared his shoulders in determination.
"You are a beautiful, funny, wonderful kitsuneko and I love you, Cho. Ever since I set eyes on you, I fell for you."
Cho blushed and smiled, resting her head on his shoulder and whispering her reply in his ear. "I love you too."
After a couple of hours or so of simply spending time in each other's company, Tora left and returned home and went straight to sleep. In the morning, he was excited to tell his mother of the kitsuneko who he had shared his heart with. However, when he entered his mother's house, it was filled with a small crowd of kitsunekos whispering quietly and sobbing. Tora pushed past them to the front and saw there was nothing there. Frowning, he turned around. "Why are you here? There is nothing there!" He asked.
A loud sob erupted from the crowd and Tora felt a light paw on his shoulder and a familiar scent. He turned around to see Cho with tear-stains down her face and a sympathetic expression. "You didn't know? Your mother..." Cho trailed off, sighing and shaking her head. "She disappeared last night and hasn't been seen since..."
The whole world seemed to freeze as the words left Cho's maw and Tora fell to the ground, tears streaming down his muzzle. "She's gone, she's gone forever..." He sobbed, ignoring many of the kitsunekos attempting to console him.
A couple of hours later, Cho returned for Tora and tried to make him returned to his house. However, Tora decided enough was enough and left the village with a couple of brave guards in search of the lost kitsunekos.
After a week of travelling with no luck, the other guards decided there was no hope and started to head back. However, in the distance, Tora could see a small lone house, seemingly deserted. He ran as fast as he could, his heart beating loud in his ears. As he walked through the open door, he caught a familiar, flowery scent. Cho.
However, though as hard as he looked, he could not find Cho sitting beside the small group of gagged kitsunekos. He shook his head as he untied the kitsunekos, not wanting to believe what the evidence suggested. Cho was not a kidnapper. She wouldn't be.
Leading the kitsunekos back to their homes, Tora asked the old, frail-looking villager beside him whether she knew anything about their captor. She described the flowery scent and her elegant shape and long, pale plaited hair and Tora felt even more sure though he wished he was doubtful instead.
When they entered the village, Tora went straight to Cho's house and found her sitting silently in the corner, the window's light seeming cold and unnatural on her face.
"So, you figured it out, huh?" Her voice was mocking and cruel, no longer sweet and light-hearted. It scared Tora.
"It was you. But, why? Why would you just kidnap poor, innocent kitsunekos then do nothing to them?" He asked.
"Sorry but time's ran out. Got to go. Maybe next time...sweetie." And, at that, she leapt out of the nearby window and disappeared from Tora's life forever leaving him with a vow to never fall in love again.
