The Basics- There are three types of Crystal Beasts that are separated into three tribes: Mountain, Forest, and Water
Mountain Beasts have a rough layer of rock covering their bodies with cracks running through that rock to reveal the crystal beneath it. They live in high altitude areas and typically spend their time underground in the various caverns and tunnel systems found in mountains
Forest Beasts have a slightly coarse layer of stone that is often missing chunks in various places, typically around their feet and ears along with their tail tip. They tend to live in densely forested areas
Water Beasts have a smooth layer of stone that doesn't always cover their entire bodies, it's generally in either patches or solid sheets on their backs and legs. The areas not covered by stone is open crystal. These beasts spend most of their time underwater in lakes or the ocean
- Though in three tribes, mates and friendships with two beasts in different tribes are not uncommon
- The crystal of all these beasts can be pretty much any color or pattern and it's rare to find one that is one solid color. The rock color generally ranges from browns to dark greys with a rare exception of some white
- Crystal Beasts are omnivores so their diet consists of plants and animals smaller than themselves, like deer and birds
- The young ones are about the height of a medium sized dog, the teens are roughly the size of a pony, and adults are about the size of a horse
