Shrimp Cats are curious animals so named because they have the front half of a cat and the back half of a shrimp. They're only a bit smaller than your average house cat, and usually live near the ocean, although they can go further inland for short periods of time as long as they don't dry out. Researchers have seen a variety of Shrimp Cats in all shapes, colors and sizes, but for some reason only a few near-white or completely white ones have been spotted...

The lifecycle of a Shrimp Cat starts at, of course, kittenhood. These peculiar species of cat-shrimp hybrid are born in eggs the size of your fist and can grow quite fast until the end of this stage.

At kittenhood, your average Shrimp Cat is about the size of a small hamster to the size of a small lap dog, depending on genetics. Their eyes has not opened yet, so they are completely blind like normal kittens. However, these cats are not deaf. In fact, at birth is when their hearing is best. This is so they can find their food at a young age, should they ever be separated from their parents too early.

The average weight at this stage is anywhere from 30 lbs to 60 lbs in captivity. Yeah, these cats are quite heavy! But don't worry, this weight is all in the huge amounts of fur that a Shrimp Cat is hatched with, so they could stay alive and be warm in colder depths.

It takes quite a few years and a few things to happen for a Shrimp Cat to be considered an adult. For example, they mush shed a lot of their fur to lighten the load so they can swim up to the surface, and to also make it easier to swim. It's hard to do it with a lot of fur!

Another thing that differentiates an adult from a child is size. The average adult Shrimp Cat is about 2-3' tall. Some of the largest Shrimp Cats have been seen to grow to 8 feet tall! No, no, wait, that's just a children's tale, right?

Shrimp cats have the same behaviors as your normal household feline, other than their tendencies to love the water! Just like normal cats, Shrimpcats can have many different personalities, all depending on how they are raised, and who their owner is! Though, one thing that won't change for any shrimp cat is its love of sleeping, and its mischievousness. They also love to play, most of the time, with anything from normal cat toys, to some large underwater creatures. No two shrimp cats will be the same, however, just like a normal cat would be. Overall, they are usually very well behaved and don't tend to hold a bad nature.

VERY IMPORTANT NEWS

This version of the Shrimp Cats Lines will be CLOSING
The owner is creating new lines, which will be around very soon.

Everything will be created entirely new -
New posts, new archives, new thread. Though it will still be Shrimp Cats, it will be treated as a new species with a fresh post.

Fresh post also means new staff.

No worries for the artists who have recently done the artist competition, I won't make you compete again! I'll be keeping the three artists I have in mind and messaged already.

However, the rest of the staff will be brand new. This means there will be some cuts to staff for awhile - Though I do not expect to have need for anyone other than Orchid for the time being. If the thread becomes more popular later on, I may end up hiring new staff, new moderators, or artists as I see need.

the old posts and old archive will still remain! But there will no longer be any adopts made in these lines.
