Fact-sheet
DescriptionThis species is a relatively small sized creature, only reaching a maximum of 30cm tall. There small size makes them an excellent companion. This creature is short and dumpy. This creature has an thick fluffy coat which keeps them warm in the winter but also cool in the summer. Their main characteristics is the rounded ears and the tail which curls up over their backs. They have a small cat like triangle nose. They have large paws with attractable claws.
Origin Of SpeciesThe species was first discovered in Iceland when a peculiar cub appeared in a small village. The cub was hand reared by a human and it turned out to make the perfect companion. More and more people decided that they too wanted a cub and so they set out to discover more about the species.
The species was eventually located as living freely among the mountains and hills of Iceland, choosing to be away from the humans, living in packs or as loners. People started to take a few cubs back to the villages with them and started to domesticate the species.
Although domesticating them was controversial, it was a good idea as the vulnerable species soon went extinct in the wild shortly after due to low numbers. This means that this species can now only be found in captivity as peoples pets.
BehaviorThese creatures are extremely social, enjoying the company of humans and others of their own kind. They are happy to live in groups known as packs although some choose to live alone with the occasional contact with others. They tend to live well in all home environments, they are clean and easy going. As a captive animal, they enjoy the company of humans and thrive as being with their human all of the time.
There are a few sounds which this species tends to make which all have different meanings:
- Whining/Whimpering (Almost like a hyena laughing but fast and quieter.) - Desperate for attention (if lower pitched) or very excited (higher pitch).
- Purring (Like a cat.) - They are happy, content and comfortable with whatever is happening.
- Hissing (Like a cat.) - Scared and wants the threat to leave them alone.
- Growling (Like a dog) - Angry and wants to be left alone.
- Howling/Screaming (Sounds like a fox call.) - Letting anyone of their own kind know they are there.
DietThis species is omnivorous although leans more towards carnivorous. In the wild they would had lived off of small rodents and birds when they manage to catch them, with the addition of any berries and herbs if they manage to find them. The berries and herbs are not normally a large part of their diet and they can easily live without them. Most captive animals are fed kibble.
BreedingThese creatures can generally breed once a month. In the wild they would commonly mate for life but in captivity it very much depends on their owners wishes, some will mate to life if they live with their mate but if they don't live with their mate then they don't mate for life.
Pregnancy lasts three months and they give birth to a litter of small furry cubs. One litter is one or two cubs.
