3 things about mardi gras:

1) The name Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday,
a day of feasting before the start
of Lent on Ash Wednesday.

2) The official colors of Mardi Gras have meanings.
Purple is for justice, gold is for power
and green is for faith. These were chosen
by the Grand Duke of Russia in 1857.

3) Mardi Gras became a legal
holiday in Louisiana in 1875.

3 things about mardi gras:
- carnival season starts on epiphany and ends on mardi gras (the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday)
- if u get the baby/figurine in your piece of king cake you're supposed to have good luck for the year (also it's expected that you'll buy the next king cake lol)
- there's an annual event called the greasing of the poles on the Friday before mardi gras. They originally had to grease the poles to prevent people from climbing them to get onto the balconies, so they decided to make an event out of it. Every year tons of spectators go to watch people try greasing the poles and even a few celebrities partake in the festivities. This event signals the beginning of the big mardi gras weekend, in which the most over the top parades and parties happen.
extra: art will go here

WIP for now

also yessss u should def go to New Orleans during mardi gras the parades are insane man

Do you own a marble cat: Nope.

3 things about mardi gras:

    1. King Cake is a very sugary (And delicious!) cake that is often associated with Mardi Gras. Usually, there will be a plastic baby inside, and whoever finds said baby is supposed to buy the next cake.

2.The date of Mardi Gras changes every year,as it's always the day before Ash wednesday. The parades, however, start long before the actual date. It's true date can be anywhere from early February to late march.

3.The first Mardi Gras parade in the US was not in New Orleans, but in Mobile,Alabama in the early 1700s.

extra: Mardi Gras is a very special holiday for me. Not because of the parades, there aren't any where I live, but because of a relative. I'll just refer to her as aunt for this. Aunt was the person who really celebrated Mardi Gras. She would decorate her apartment for Mardi Gras, and she was the one who made me care about it. She doesn't live near us any more, but the holiday reminded me of her. And so that's why I enjoy Mardi Gras, despite the fact the closest thing I've had to truly celebrating it was digging out some beads and a mask. Also, she sent us a Kingcake this year, which despite not having the baby in it, due to choking hazards, is delicious.

Nope but when I saw this handsome boy and learned about him being based off Mardi Gras I just fell in love! X3

3 things about mardi gras:
*Well one strange thing I learned was that it was illegal to ride on the Mardi Gras parade float in New Orleans without a mask. XD I find this to be silly.
* eue It is also the date of the holiday, Pancake Day. Sooo if your hungry during the parade fear not for the pancakes will fill you up. <3
* You know the purple, green, and gold they use during this holiday? Well it means justice (purple), power (gold), and faith (green). Pretty cool right?

Anyway if you are going there I can tell you from experience that it is crowded and things are expensive. XD The parking was the worst in my point of view. <3

Sadly no, ive been watching and waiting for one to catch my eyes since you made one, even tried for the artist competition a while back. But since then I never found on i connect with.
3 things about mardi gras:
Like many holidays we celebrate today, the festivities include evidence of pagan tradition. Feasting and masquerades, which are important parts of today's Mardi Gras celebrations.

New Orleans was not the first American city to host a parade for the occasion. That was Mobile, Alabama. Louisiana is where the celebration originated in North America, though, and for that we can thank France for sending the LeMoyne brothers in 1699 to defend France's claim in Louisiana, as they brought the holiday with them.

It is illegal to ride on a Mardi Gras parade float in New Orleans without wearing a mask.

extra: optional

Bonus:
Parades in New Orleans and other places that celebrate MG in the United States are put on by clubs that call themselves "krewes" Each krewe selects their "royalty" each year and they include a king, a queen, dukes, and duchesses. Therefore, the crown is a reference to the Mardi Gras "royalty."
