It was a cold dark night and Chip sat outside alone, staring at the garden. He'd snuck outside since he couldn't sleep but so far it wasn't changing anything. Usually he'd fall asleep so fast he barely got a chance to close his eyes, but something just kept him awake tonight. He pulled a few crackers from his pocket and idly began to nibble on them.

Something rustled in the distance and he looked up, curiosity glowing in his eyes. Before he knew what was going on there was a little round dog hopping towards him. He dropped the crackers in his surprise, which were quickly gobbled up by the green and red pooch. "What are you doing out here?" Chip asked as he reached a hand out for the pup to smell.

The dog ignored his hand and sniffed at his pockets, trying to get the rest of the crackers. "You seem pretty hungry," Chip remarked before slowly standing up. He took a cracker out of his pocket, causing the dog to jump frantically at his legs. "Come with me," Chip said soothingly as he made his way back towards the house, dropping bits of cracker for the dog as they went.

Once inside he gave the remaining cracker to the fluffy pup before going to get some more food and water for the animal. "I think I'll call you Melon," he said gently as he set the bowls down. The food was gone before he could even blink and the messy pooch got water all over the floor. Chip could only laugh, "You seem like the perfect dog, Melon." She barked softly and pawed at him in response, demanding more food.
