The sun blazed above, and the flowers swayed below dancing in the wind.
Fern gave a small sigh, it was the morning, the first morning of summer and the heat had already
become nearly unbearable. Fern had been looking for something cooler, something to jump into
that would get rid of her sweat. The butter looked up again, not a cloud in the sky that looked
as if it would give some rain to the fields below. Shaking her head, she set off again. The normal
ponds and streams she would happily jump into and swim through had been filled to the brims with other
Butters, and she simply didn't want company that day. Again and again she heard the cries and laughs of
others splashing about, and wished she had the heart to join them, but now she just wanted to be alone,
and find a small body of water to splash and play in, one that only contained few others. As she passed along
another stream filled with butters young and old she swung around. There, across the stream was a small shop,
with a large box in front of it. Dashing over, plunging into the water and swimming across to see, Fern's eyes grew
wide with delight as she read what was on the box, she finally began to smile. It was a pool! A bigger, cheap pool.
She ran inside, paying the cashier then nodding as the manager offered to help her bring it home. As soon as they made
it to the small hut that she lived in, Fern trotted to the backyard, leaving the manager to drag the box to the back, as she
got out her hose and flipped on the water. When the pool was finally in the back yard, the two butters dragged it apart,
then filled it up, and Fern waved good bye to the manager as she climbed inside the pool.
