Shadow Creatures. Beings made entirely of shadow, and they've invaded Earth. But with every monster, there is a slayer, and the slayer comes in the form of an entirely female race. These women are named Heaven's Warriors, lead by who Earth calls Ignite. Ignite and the Warriors must defeat the Shadow Creatures, save the Earth and find a way back to their home. But where are they from? And who is Ignite, exactly?

Prologue ~ Every Monster has its Slayer
"We advise the citizens of Winnipeg to remain indoors, as sightings of Shadow Creatures have been reported around the MTS Centre and going as far as-"
Josh Lock clicked the television off and sighed, resting his cheek against his fist. His pale blue eyes were half open and dull with boredom. He blew a strand of bleach blonde hair out of his eyes, watching with forced fascination as it twirled around in the short stream of breath. "Haven't been outside all damn week... What's the big deal anyways? They're shadows." He grumbled moodily, looking out the window at the bright and cheery day. School he could do without, but no sports? "Somebody shoot me now." He added.
It had all started a couple months ago, three months to be precise. In a small city in the States that Josh didn't care to remember the name of, weird creatures had been sighted. It wasn't until an actual encounter was recorded and put on YouTube that it became a big deal. The video was taken from an IPod, and showed a hike a couple were on. The boy was recording, while the girl was being recorded. The camera zoomed in on her rear as she walked when something leapt very suddenly out of the trees. The camera went back into normal focus and then the creature was shown.
The creature was unlike anything the world had ever seen. It was completely back, and moved and flowed like oil underwater. It was almost like it was made completely of shadow. It had a human shape, but the gender was impossible to tell. Huge bat-like wings extended from its back, and two round, luminescent white eyes were set in its head, the only facial feature it had.
And then it attacked. Huge shadow claws suddenly shot out and it tore into the girl, running her through. It was then that the boy turned around and ran, then the IPod flew through the air and the screen exploded into static as screams were heard in the background.
It had been revealed on the news that the IPod was found, mostly unharmed with the video on it. The camera had kept filming until the IPod ran out of room, but only the attack had been placed on the news. Soon it was all over the world, and that's when things got more serious. Shadow Creatures had started popping up everywhere, in ever country and most cities. Each day more and more people fell victim to their attacks, and those who weren't killed became horribly disfigured or too traumatized to speak.
And now they were in Winnipeg.
Josh looked longingly out the window. He didn't see the big deal, they were just shadows after all. And the video was way too much like the 'Bigfoot sightings' and the 'Ghost sightings' for his liking. It was bright and sunny outside, and his eyes trained longingly on his basketball net. He knew he should've been more scared, but he honestly wondered if this was real or just fake. "World wide invasion my ass. I don't see anything out there." He snarked. He turned back and switched the tv back on.
"This is a warning to all those who are currently in the St. Michael's area. Lock your doors, close your windows and keep hidden. Two Shadow Creatures have been spotted, and seem to be looking around. Please remain indoors, and keep all children away from doors and windows. Keep all lights off, and remain silent until the coast is clear."
Josh sat up very quickly and shut the tv off. He heard his parents starting to move around in other parts of the house, and he set to work himself. He checked to make sure the door was locked, he shut off the lights in the room and started towards the window. He felt uneasy as he moved towards it, and he didn't know why. It was just a hoax, just a-
His thoughts were cut off with a shrill scream as a dark arm burst through the window and long, skinny fingers wrapped around his throat. He grabbed the wrist, feeling the ice cold, bone dry and brittle skin beneath his fingers as he struggled, bracing his feet against the wall. It was becoming harder to breathe and it pulled on him, and the luminescent eyes that stared into his were starting to make him feel like giving up. Just for a second he slackened, and the creature pulled him through the shattered window.
Sharp glass cut into his skin and clothes, making Josh cry out in pain. He pummelled the Shadow Creature with his feet, trying to knock it off but it was no use. The fingers tightened around his throat and he gasped, pulling at the hand as his face started to redden. Can't breathe, can't breathe...
Then something knocked him over.
The Shadow Creature roared in pain as Josh was thrown to the ground, and he realized why very quickly. Something, or rather somebody, had dropped onto it's outstretched arm, and now the severed limbs fingers were slack against Josh's neck. He pulled free and fell back on his elbows, gasping for breath as the creature held the ragged stump of a shoulder it now possessed, bright blue liquid gushing from the wound. Shrill shrieks echoed on the silent street, making him cringe.
The somebody was crouched down. It was a woman, that much was obvious. The woman slowly stood up, head bowed slightly with her silver-y bangs casting her eyes into shadow. Beneath her feet, the small cement walkway was cracked from the sheer force of her impact. When she was standing fully, she lifted her head and bright blue on deep black eyes glared at the Shadow Creature. She snapped her arms out and flicked her hands open. Almost instantly, bright blue fireballs that matched her irises sprang to life and hovered above her palms.
Then her wings flared open. Pale blue, feathery appendages that hid Josh from view.
The woman took up a fighting stance. Flat turquoise shoes covered her feet, her outfit consisted of a tight, short black dress with turquoise trim and a large turquoise belt. Her pale silver hair was long and thrown over her right shoulder, the blue flames licking at it but never setting it alight, while her bangs were long and swept to the side, covering her right eye. Her irises started glowing, creating the illusion that they were on fire. Blue fire, just like the flames and her wings. A scar went across her left eye, giving her the appearance of a warrior.
The woman smirked at the Shadow Creature. Without warning she spun around and hurled a blazing blue ball at a creature that had been creeping up from behind his house. The fireball connected with its' abdomen, and the creature itself screeched in horrible agony as blue flames slowly ate up its body. Josh watched in horror as it was eaten up, and then it was gone. He turned back to see her facing the wounded being, the other fireball still hovering before her drawn back hand.
The woman held out her other hand and made a 'come at me' gesture. The creature charged at her with a roar, and she leapt into the air. Her wings billowed once, propelling her higher before she dropped down on it. There was a horrible crunch as the Shadow Creature roared in pain, and then she slammed her palm down on its head. The fireball instantly started eating away at it, and she stepped off neatly. Claws scrabbled at her ankles, and without turning she kicked it away as it was devoured by the hungry flames.
Josh gaped at her as she stood over him, her wings placing him in her great shadow. "W-What are you?" He asked nervously. She'd just killed two Shadow Creatures with ease, and it hadn't occurred to him until now that she could be evil.
To his surprise, the woman smirked. "A friend, save your other questions for later kid." She replied simply, playing with a lock of her silver hair.
Josh stood up and just stared at her. Her eyes, especially, were hypnotizing. Whites replaced with black made the bright blue irises stick out, and her simple outfit was brought out more by the amount of black. Her wings were the same shade as her eyes, which were the same as the fireballs she'd possessed. "Do you have a name?" He asked.
"Names aren't needed amongst my people. I figure I'm going to be asked a lot of questions, so how about you just give me one?"
Josh couldn't believe how she was acting. She sounded like she found this completely normal! He watched as she folded her wings in nonchalantly, and those strange eyes giving him an expectant look. "Um... This is weird as hell. I just got attacked by a Shadow Creature, an angel saved me and now said angel is trying to get me to name her. Is this normal?" He asked, wondering in this was a dream.
The woman raised an eyebrow at him. "You mean you don't about us?" She gulped and looked down, scratching the back of her neck, "Well that changes things. To put it simply, I'm the leader of an entirely female race and we've been fighting the Shadow Creatures since, well, forever. We're from a different world, and we got sucked here through a portal." She explained rapidly.
Josh just blinked. "I think you should come inside..." He started. True, he wanted to stay outside and learn more, but he knew he shouldn't worry his mother anymore. She didn't know an angel had just dropped from the sky and saved his ass from the Shadow Creatures. He was also hesitant to let a winged girl into his home, but she'd, as mentioned before, saved his life, and he owed her. He started walking towards the house, and noticed with a bit of relief that she was following him. He opened the door, and was instantly set upon by his mother.
"Oh, my boy, I was so worried!"
Josh blushed heavily, but hugged her back. "Um, thanks mom, but I kinda have to introduce you to somebody," He pulled away and stepped aside, revealing the woman, "This is... Um..." He took a quick look at her before remembering the fire and the way her eyes lit up,
"Ignite. And boy, does she have one hell of a story to tell us."
